Last year the European Commission provided the alcohol industry with the opportunity to come up with a self-regulatory proposal on alcohol labelling, an opportunity which the industry has ignored.
The European alcohol industry has long upheld a privilege to conceal what is inside the drinks it produces. All EU-made foods – except for alcoholic beverages – are obliged to inform consumers about ingredients and nutritional content on the packaging. That exemption draws to an end.

Eurocare today published a report on wine promotion subsidies under EU’s Common Agricultural Policy, calling for EU lawmakers to phase out this costly market intervention.
