NordAN resolution 2017

The NordAN General Assembly adopted a resolution on 28th October, which is to be presented to the participants of the EU presidency conference “Cross-Border Aspects in Alcohol Policy – Tackling Harmful Use of Alcohol” on 30th-31st October.


WHO publishes training manual on alcohol brief interventions in primary care

In an attempt to help Member States to introduce and expand alcohol screening and brief intervention (SBI) programmes, WHO/Europe has launched a training manual called “WHO training on alcohol brief interventions in primary care”. It aims to support the development and implementation of comprehensive training in SBIs for primary health care professionals.


‘Alcohol-related Liver Disease: Guidance for Good Practice’ launched by Chief Medical Officer at Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh

SHAAP (Scottish Health Action on Alcohol Problems) launched ‘Alcohol-related Liver Disease: Guidance for Good Practice’ at a seminar at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh on Tuesday 24 October 2017 at 11 am. The seminar was addressed by the Chief Medical Officer for Scotland, Dr Catherine Calderwood.

The most recent CNAPA meeting took place on the 21st & 22nd March 2017, the minutes of which have been made public.


Welsh government plans minimum unit pricing

Welsh Minister for Social Services and Public Health Rebecca Evans yesterday unveiled a proposal to introduce a minimum price for the sale of alcohol.

11th October marks World Obesity Day. Now in its third year, the campaign recommends tackling causes of obesity immediately, in order to avoid worse consequences later.
