Join the NGO Alliance for a Global Strategy on Alcohol

As part of the preparatory work for the release of a Global Strategy to reduce alcohol related harm, the WHO held a round table meeting with NGOs and health professionals on 24-25 November.

During that meeting, the WHO secretariat suggested that NGOs interested in the process leading up to a Global Alcohol Strategy, get together on an information/communication platform with the aim of facilitating the communication between WHO and NGOs on ways to reduce alcohol related harm.

At the meeting, GAPA (the Global Alcohol Policy Alliance) agreed to set up an information-sharing network for NGOs and public health professionals.

To that aim, the WHO has kindly put at the disposal of the alliance the open platform used by the WHO departments (The Knowledge Management for Public Health (KM4PH)).

The only requirement to join the platform is to be completely independent from commercial interests. The members of the platform cannot receive any funding from the alcohol industry or associated business or any organisations set up by them.
