Update on Advertising Platform in the European Parliament
The European Parliament Advertising Platform (AdVantage), a platform that facilitates debates regarding advertising's role, responsibilities to society, and its relation to EU policy-making, has scheduled three events for 2008. The first event will be held in April and act as a debate over the issue of influence on advertising and consumer-generated issues. The second event in June will focus on sports advertising and be run in a similar vain. In October, the third event will debate climate change.
MEP Mr. Holger Krahmer (ALDE) is the head of this group. The other members of the group are: Dr. Jorgo Chatzimarkakis (ALDE), Wolfgang Klinz (ALDE), Dr. Silvana Koch-Mehrin (ALDE), Alexander Graf Lambsdorff (ALDE), Alexander Alvaro (ALDE), Karin Riis-Jorgensen (ALDE), Willem Schuth (ALDE), Avril Doyle (EPP-ED), Christopher Heaton-Harris(EPP-ED), Othmar Karas (EPP-ED), Piia-Noora Kauppi (EPP-ED), Alexander Stubb (EPP-ED), and Edit Herczog (PSE).
The Business and Industry Associations representatives are as follows: Association of Commercial Television (ACT), Advertising Information Group (AIG), Association of European Radios (AER), European Association of Communication Agencies (EACA), European Association of Directory and Database Publishers (EADP), Association of Television and Radio Sales Houses (EGTA), European Newspaper Publishers' Association (ENPA) - Voice of the Newspapers Owners in Europe, European Publishers' Council (EPC), and the European Federation of Magazine Publishers (WFA).
