The key theme of the conference is how best to transfer and apply of good practices in new settings and environments. The conference will highlight successful safety promotion initiatives and actions as evidenced through the various European collaborative projects and will encourage the uptake of good practices in countries.

The conference will also address the challenges of creating sustainable national structures for co-ordinated programmes and actions on injury prevention, involving relevant stakeholders in government, civil society, private sector and academia.

Key note speakers address cross sectional issues such as understanding common risk factors such as alcohol abuse and deprivation, national plan development and structures for co-ordinated actions, methodologies for effective risk communication and the need for enhanced capacity building and training of professionals.

Concurrent sessions and workshops will in particular focus on major risk groups such as children, elderly people, persons with disabilities and vulnerable road users, and to specific risk categories such as injuries in sports and leisure, injuries related to consumer products and services, and intentional injuries due to violence and self-harm.
