Finland and Sweden – biggest Nanny States in European Union

Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) along with the European Policy Information Centre published the so called Nanny State Index last week that puts Finland and Sweden in top defining these Nordic countries as the “worst places in the European Union to eat, drink, smoke and vape.”

Commission publishes EU road safety statistics for 2015

The 2015 road safety statistics published today by the European Commission confirm that European roads remain the safest in the world despite a recent slowdown in reducing road fatalities. 26,000 people lost their lives on EU roads last year, 5, 500 fewer than in 2010.

Level of sugar in red wine adapted to local markets

Scotland: Health experts accuse whisky industry of blocking bid to cut drink deaths

The Times[1] has reported on claims by health campaigners who are accusing the whisky industry of blocking the Scottish Government’s plans to combat alcohol abuse. The article mentions figures from NHS Health Scotland showing that three people die every day because of alcohol in Scotland, where sales are currently 20 per cent higher than in England and Wales.
