On behalf of the Ministry of Health in Slovenia and of the European Alcohol Policy Alliance (Eurocare), it is with great pleasure that we invite you to register to attend the 7th European Alcohol Policy Conference.

The Conference is taking place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on 22 and 23 November, with the theme “Alcohol Policy for Sustainable Development - ACT NOW”. Please see www.7eapc.eu

We are proud to be able to confirm the participation of more than five Health Ministers from across Europe, contributing to a high-level policy discussion and sharing information and good practices. The World Health Organization, at both Global and European level, the European Commission and the Committee of the Regions will share their knowledge and experience.

Researchers, public-health professionals and civil society representatives from around the world will also participate and focus on developments in Europe. This will strengthen networks, build capacity and stimulate action to prevent and reduce alcohol-related problems at all levels.

We will be raising awareness about the current burden of alcohol in Europe and the multiple health and social problems it creates. We will also explore ways in which cost-effective alcohol policies can contribute to creation of sustainable health system savings. In addition, we will consider the synergies between the current works undertaken by both the European Commission and the World Health Organization with regards to chronic diseases and alcohol policy.

We are delighted to inform you that the World Health Organization will also be delivering a workshop on the topic of 'Harm to others', with focus on (a) harm to others in general, (b) pregnancy and harm, and (c) alcohol and violence.

In addition, within the sub-themes of health inequalities and innovative approaches, other presentations and workshops will cover aspects including:
