Eurocare presents at the 'Sharing evidence to improve addiction prevention and harm reduction' event
This week Eurocare has presented at a workshop organised by the Executive Agency for Health and Consumers (EAHC) and hosted by the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA), in collaboration with DG JUSTICE and DG SANCO.
Eurocare has highlighted how the Operating Grant from the Executive Agency for Health and Consumers (EAHC) has allowed Eurocare to advance its effort to reduce alcohol related harm.
The aim of the meeting was to discuss the Prevention and Health and social responses profiles (http://www.emcdda.europa.eu/country-data/prevention/2011), the information gaps, the process of data validation at national level and how the Health and Drug Prevention and Information Programme projects results can be used to update it.
27 European projects experts on addiction to alcohol (9), on drugs (14) and nightlife (3) presented the actions results to an audience of National REITOX network focal points (NFP), EMCDDA experts, EAHC, DG SANCO and DG JUSTICE. REITOX is the European information network on drugs and drug addiction, representing the EU Member States (http://www.emcdda.europa.eu/about/partners/reitox-network).
Three sessions were organised around the topics (I) prevention, (II) health and social responses, and (III) best practice, aiming to identify and to gather information that can be used to close the gap of data, to use research findings at national, regional and local level and to promote the collaboration between addiction project coordinators and REITOX NFP.
