Estonia starts a process towards new alcohol policy
Estonia reviews its alcohol policy and is aiming for a alcohol consumption below eight litres per person per year.
The Ministry of Health and Social Affairs in Estonia met a number of interest groups 23rd of September to start reviewing the alcohol policy and develop a new strategy for implementation. Social Affairs Minister Hanno Pevkur (picture) says that the review will focus on how alcohol use can be lowered to a level close to the Scandinavian consumption, at around eight litres per person per year in pure alcohol.
The process initiated will lead to a “Green Book”, which will serve as the basis for the future governmental actions in Estonia.
