Eurocare Annual General Assembly 2014

On the 4th and 5th June Eurocare held its Annual General Assembly. Eurocare was delighted to host 32 members’ organisations and prominent speakers.

As every year Eurocare held Annual General Assembly, Eurocare was delighted with high attendance and fruitful debates.

Eurocare warmly welcomes two new members this year:

Wilfried Kamphausen, Kristina Sperkova (IOGT International), Maja Stojanovska (ACTIVE- Sobriety, friendship and peace) Krzysztof Brzozka (Polish State Agency for Prevention of Alcohol Related Harm) and Savaz Yilmaz (Turkish Green Crescent Society) were elected as Special Advisers.

Michel Craplet (Assocation Nationale de Prevention en Alcoologie et Addictologie) after over 20 years of active engagement in Eurocare has been elected an Honorary President.

The business part of the meeting has been followed by presentations and lively debates.

Eurocare has been honoured to have the following speakers presenting:

  • Patricia Pissarra, SICAD – Serviço de Intervenção nos Comportamentos Aditivos e nas Dependências presenting the Joint Action RARHA
  • Attila Balough European Commission, DG Health and Consumers, updating Eurocare on the latest policy developments and future of the EU Alcohol Strategy
  • Michele Cecchini, OECD, presenting preliminary results of the OECD work on health and economic impact of prevention policies
  • John Carr (eNASCO) talking about children’s safety online
  • Melina Violari (Facebook) explaining the Facebook codes of practices in terms of alcohol marketing
  • Anne Deltour and Victoria Leroy European Commission, DG Connect, updating on the latest studies on exposure to alcohol marketing.

Eurocare would like to thank all delegates for their active participation and looks forward to the next year’s General Assembly which will take place in London.
