The Health Minister explains that the changes have been planned in accordance to the recommendations drafted by a task force, and that these could be altered after discussion with relevant institutions. He also says that he personally supports the suggestions of the WHO and other international experts on ways of combating alcohol abuse problems, including limiting alcohol accessibility and advertising.

The Lithuanian parliament had already been discussing a number of amendments on curbing and fully prohibiting alcohol ads.
