Malta’s Health Minister wants a zero tolerance approach to drink driving
Health Minister Joe Cassar expressed his concerns regarding alcohol consumption in general and especially drink driving
Under the launch of the yearly drink-driving campaign ahead of the Christmas season, Mr Cassar addressed the health challenges of alcohol consumption. He specifically addressed his concerns about drink driving, as Malta, together with UK, has a legal BAC-limit of 0.08 grams per decilitre. This is the highest BAC limit in Europe, while most countries have 0.05 or 0.02 grams per decilitre. The Health Minister wants a zero tolerance mentality – and not only at Christmas, but all year around.
Eurocare welcomes this initiative of a change of BAC in Malta, and hopes the Health Minister will follow this further in 2012.
