RAYPRO (Resource on Alcohol and Youth Projects) is on- line database which enables to share information on projects and activities to reduce alcohol-related harm among children and young people

RAYPRO is developed and hosted by the European Commission's Directorate-General Health and Consumers (DG SANCO). The impetus for setting up RAYPRO came from the European Alcohol and Health Forum. Following an outline created by the Forum's youth focussed task force, DG Health & Consumers, assisted by an advisory board, has set up RAYPRO for a pilot phase through to 2011.

Projects and activities are grouped according to five themes. The age range extends from children - for example reducing harm from alcohol use disorders in the family - to young adults, as teenage and early adulthood affect drinking habits for life.
RAYPRO is open to contributions from all organisations and agencies working on alcohol and young people.
Project information is structured into: intervention, evaluation and results. Project owners are requested to justify why they consider their project or activity good practice.

Project owners can add links and upload documents for sharing. Information is entered in English but the name of the project and a summary can also be given - and searched - in another language.Project owners are responsible for the comprehensiveness, accuracy and relevance of the information they enter in the database. DG SANCO carries out technical validation to check that the data is duly filled in but does not vet the projects.

To enter the information you just have to register as a user. Instructions are available in the User guide. No registration is required for browsing projects.
