New research on breast cancer and moderate alcohol consumption
Low or moderate alcohol consumption increases the risk of breast cancer by 15%
Researchers from Harvard presented a new study in The Journal of the American Medical Association about alcohol and cancer. The objective of the study was to evaluate the association of breast cancer with alcohol consumption during adult life, including quantity, frequency, and age at consumption.
The study confirms the link between heavy drinking and cancer, but also brings up the issue of low or moderate consumption. According to the study, a consumption level at three to six glasses of wine per week may increase the risk of breast cancer with 15 %.
