The Nordic Alcohol and Drug Policy Network (NordAN) is calling for a new European Alcohol Strategy
NordAN met in Vilnius, Lithuania, and its annual Assembly states: “The NordAN alcohol policy network urges European governments to renew the strategy and plan for a new evidence based strategy”
NordAN is an umbrella organisation consisting of 89 NGOs from all the Nordic and Baltic countries. They are now addressing the European governments to renew the European Alcohol Strategy at EU level. They stresses that there is a need of a comprehensive and long term approach to alcohol policies, and the current Alcohol Strategy, which ends in 2012, has been an important push to the EU-member states to act and enforce strategies and law enforcement.
Furthermore, NordAN annual meeting supports the intended implementation of a ban on alcohol advertisement in Lithuania from January 1, 2012.
