Taking action to prevent depression and suicide

Eurocare participated in an event in Budapest on "Prevention of Depression and Suicide- Making it Happen", organised by the European Commission and Hungarian Ministry of Health with the Support of the Swedish Presidency of the EU and in collaboration with WHO Regional Office for Europe.

Mariann Skar, Secretary General of Eurocare, spoke on behalf of Eurocareabout the link between alcohol, depression and suicide, while the conference also heard about EU action on social protection and mental health and access to care for depressed persons and those at risk for suicide.
