WHO Consultation Meetings on Global Alcohol Strategy
WHO and the Member States will have a series of Consultation Meetings in order to reach a Global Strategy to Reduce Harmful Use of Alcohol.
The meetings will start in Bangkok in the end of February. WHO will meet the European Member States in Copenhagen in April 20-23. The meetings are part of a process initiated by the World Health Assembly in May 2008 through the presentation of a Global Strategy to Reduce Harmful Use of Alcohol to be adopted at the Health Assembly in 2010. Consultation meetings have already been held with the NGO community and economic operators.
Thereby, the second stage of the process will take place with these encounters in all six WHO regions this year, which gives a good chance to NGOs to establish a dialogue with their respective national governments.
Eurocare encourages all its member organisations to be active at national level and try to become a member of the national delegation. Please inform the Eurocare secretariat about your organisations and the national activities regarding the Global Strategy.
