Commission Communication on Mental Health: Information from the Commission

The adoption of a Commission Communication on Mental Health is scheduled to take place during the 3rd quarter of 2007. The document is in the process of being finalised.

The Communication will draw the conclusions from an extensive consultation on the basis of a Commission Green paper of 20051.

The Communication will open up opportunities for exchange, cooperation and coordination at EU level on key aspects in mental health and it will also announce a number of specific initiatives.

A launch event to present the Communication to Member States and key stakeholders will be organised following its adoption (date to be confirmed).

If adopted in time, the Communication could also be presented at a Mental Health Conference, which the Government of the Spanish Region of Catalonia will organise in Barcelona on 13-15 September 20072. This will be an event supported by the Portuguese Presidency and co-funded from the EU-Public Health Programme.
