Council agrees on Programme of Community Action in the field of Health 2008-2013

9 October. The European Council has agreed on the Second EU Programme of Community Action in the field of Health 2008-2013.

The Programme, that will enter into force as from 1 January 2008, has a budget of 321.5 million Euros.

The programme has 3 general objectives:

1. to improve citizens's health security

2. to promote health, including the reduction of health inequalities

3. health information and knowledge
