PART ONE
SAAP National Activities in 2006
1. SAAP Treated Alcoholics Following up Project:
SAAP Treated Alcoholics and their families Following up Project by an Interdisciplinary Team (a social worker, a psychiatrist and a psychologist).
This project started some years ago and is renewed every year. In the last year, 2006, there ware brief interventions with about 700 people.
2. Telephone Line “Counselling” Project:
There was in 2006 about 550 calls from all over the country.
There was also direct welcome and information on the premises to about 200 people.
3. Schools Project:
SAAP Personal and some Volunteers were invited to conduct four educational meetings in the schools on alcohol related problems.
4. RSI (Rendimento Social de Insersão = Inclusion Social Allowance) Family Project.
SAAP Team accompanied about 40 families with brief interventions focussed on alcohol problems to facilitate social and economic integration and inclusion. About 1/3 of these families are immigrants from about 10 different countries.
5. CONTA COMIGO Bulletin Publication is published quarterly by SAAP whit useful educational topics.
6. SAAP has a Library with about 700 books on Alcohol related problems made available to university students and other interested people.
7. SAAP leaflets and booklets on Alcohol problems are disseminated on request.
8. SAAP Staff collaborate with the media when requested and send them press release messages.
These activities are going on in the current year 2007.
PART TWO
SOME SAAP/ISJD ACTIVITIES IN EUROCARE
In spite of a very reduced budget and loosing two good research practising psychologists both fluent in English, SAAP could carry out some significant activities of collaboration with EUROCARE projects.
The main ones are the following:

3. Translation and revision to be published of the APN Booklet «Politicas sobre o álcool para a Europa e países membros. Reduzindo os danos provocados pelo álcool - Politicas do programa “Bridging the Gap”( A Policy on Alcohol for Europe and its Countries») SAAP could not find funding to publish it until now.
4. SAAP engaged through the Executive Agency for Public Health (PHEA - HTC) to be a Partner in the Building Capacity Project in October 2006.
5. Aires Gameiro answered the Evaluation Questionnaire: Bridging the Gap Alcohol Policy Network the 21.12.2006.
6. Translation and press release of the Euro barometer (Reference: IP/07/322 Date: 14/03/2007 ) on alcohol warnings to protect vulnerable people 11. 16. 03. 07.
7. Dissemination through the media the “Eurocare Dr. Craplet letter to the President of EU Commission Dr. José Manuel Barroso” alerting to the pression the Alcohol Industry and Trade lobbies are making upon DG SANCO to neglect citizens’ health and wellbeing in favour of their interests.
8. Translation and dissemination through media the Press Release of WHO View on Time to Identificate the Alcohol Global problems on behalf of GAPA, EUROCARE and SAAP 15.03.07.
9. AIRES GAMEIRO’s Presentation of a Poster in the Helsinki Conference on the APN with the title “Some good practices to reduce children and adolescents drinking risks and harms in Portugal” which was inserted in Conference CD and Site.
10. Aires Gameiro answered and made comments two ice, in 31.05.07 and in the final round 06.07 to the Questionnaire to evaluate the Alcohol Labeling Delphi Enquiry on alcohol labeling and health warnings.
