European Alcohol Awareness Week 2025
For this year's European Awareness Week on Alcohol Related Harm (AWARH), Eurocare together with the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) and the United European Gastroenterology (UEG) are inviting you to a High level conference Rethinking Prevention: A Dialogue with Youth which will take place on Tuesday, the 4th of November 2025, at the European Parliament (Brussels). This event is hosted by MEP Manuela Ripa and co-hosted by MEP Vytenis Povilas Andriukaitis.
Among the many risk factors contributing to health costs, alcohol stands out as particularly significant for youth. Alcohol is still widely portrayed as a cultural heritage, an economic driver, or an ordinary commodity. Yet recent evidence, including from the World Health Organization, confirms that no level of alcohol consumption is safe for health.
Against this backdrop, MEPs Ripa and Andriukaitis are convening a special event in the European Parliament to place youth perspectives at the centre of a critical conversation on prevention. The event will bring together a diversity of voices, including youth advocates, young health professionals, policymakers, and researchers to foster a meaningful, evidence-informed dialogue on how prevention policies can better respond to the needs and concerns of younger generations.
